The
Information Company Pvt Ltd (TIC), incorporated in March
1999, focuses on serving business information and information
technology needs in the Internet age. From the project
stage in mid-1998 the promoters focused on the needs of
the corporate sector, and geared the organisation to cater
to large, quality-conscious corporate organisations.
In each of its areas of operation, TIC has tried and
tested products and skills. The company has four divisions
(plus a division-in-the-making). There are strong synergies
between the divisions, where the competencies required
for successful operations are leveraged across the organisation.
The company has also used in-house training and multi-tasking
to handle a much larger volume of work than would otherwise
be possible to handle for an organisation its size.
OUR DIVISIONS
Web solutions: This division was
launched with the acquisition in early 2000 of our first
client, the Tata Group, India's biggest private sector
business group, for whom we began with a maintenance contract
for the group website, www.tata.com,
from where we quickly redesigned the website in July 2000.
We have been maintaining the site since then.
We redesigned the website in 2005, to align
it with the Tata Group's changed business imperatives. The
site is updated daily and shows up very well on search
engines. Even though it does not have any direct consumer
or investor stakes, the traffic to the site has been growing
exponentially. It has been the most resounding success
in the Indian corporate website area.
The division has provided its services to
some of India's biggest and most reputed business groups,
including Aditya Birla, Murugappa and Godrej. See our

Software: After a couple of hard
knocks in 1999-2000, when we tried to get a database developed
by an outside software developer, and were let down badly,
we decided we must build our own software team for mission-critical
work. Since then we have spent a huge amount of time researching
business software applications and developing our own
software, first for ourselves, and then for our clients.
Since 2000 we have built capabilities to
create software for the corporate sector in the areas
of content management, information and knowledge management,
marketing and sales, HR, and procurement. We have developed
best-of-breed products in these areas. Check out our software

In addition, we have created two products,
one in the information management area, and the other
in the requisitioning and procurement area, which are
unique.
Media & content: This division
was the first to take off, with the launch of www.domain-b.com,
India's first and biggest online business magazine. We
then launched www.prdomain.com,
which is the best product in its category in India. These
two websites offer over 40,000 pages of business information
relating to organisations and events in India and the
world.
This division also syndicates content to
clients, including print publications.
Design: This division feeds the web
solutions operations and also provides services to corporate
clients in the area of creation of print and multimedia

Consulting & research: This division-in-the-making
derives its strength from the decades of experience our
team has in offline as well as online operations and in
strategic thinking. We have provided research and consulting
services as part of our web solutions. These services
include website audits, benchmarking, information architecture
and online strategies.
