Tata Trusts Magazine - Special publication

Project: Special publication on the Zila Swachh Bharat Prerak Programme

Brief

Create a special publication that celebrates the success of the Zila Swachh Bharat Prerak (ZSBP) Programme, a unique partnership between a philanthropic organisation and the Government of India. The book should document the programme and share the knowledge gained through the initiative.

Execution

Challenge

From documenting and showcasing the success of the programme to engaging the stakeholders and serving as memorabilia for those who worked in the programme, the objectives of the book were many. Striking the right balance in the tone of the language was also critical given the philanthropic nature of Tata Trusts’ work.

Approach

We had a clear brief on the range of topics to be covered in the book and we began by documenting each one of them. We took a steady approach towards collecting information, interviewing the stakeholders, writing stories and ultimately condensing 2.5 years-worth of information in the book. The stories of achievement were shared through the voice of the young preraks who were on ground, helping to bring about a change.

Results

The book serves as a referral document for anyone who wishes to know about the programme and has been highly appreciated by all stakeholders.

A book of Tata quotes

Client

The Tata Central Archives is the corporate business archive of the Tata group. One of India’s leading corporate archives, it stores and preserves all material relating to the genesis and development of Tata companies, including memorabilia related to its leading personalities and corporate activities.

Brief

To curate a collection of quotes by Tata luminaries like JRD Tata, Ratan Tata, among others. The client wanted TIC to create a book of quotes that would appeal to all age groups. The idea was to design a book that was simple and elegant, and present it as an inspirational – and aspirational – collection of life-lessons.

The client, TR Doongaji on behalf of Tata Central Archives, was extremely passionate about the project and very exacting in the high standards he expected in terms of process and output.

Process and outcome

To create an elegant and stylised book, the team brainstormed intensely on several aspects -- from the font to be used to the colour, type and thickness of the paper, and the appropriate size of the book. The recommendations were approved quickly. Creative details like a hard bound exterior, golden crest on the cover, embossed logo and golden gilded edges added to the look of elegance and sophistication. Designed and developed in record time, the final book exceeded the client’s expectations and now serves as a collector’s edition. The book titled Good Thoughts Good Words Good Deeds: A book of Tata quotes was launched by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, in the presence of Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons; and T R Doongaji, Honorary Advisor, Tata Central Archives.

Brief

Tata Motors asked us to enhance the 2016 annual report with 40 pages of content that would highlight the company’s achievements. Apart from original content, we had to ideate a theme for the annual report and create an eye-catching design.

Outcome

The theme for the future-facing company was ‘Towards Tomorrow’. We created a unique look-and-feel using selected colours and design elements. We wrote original content on topics such as Year Gone By, Innovation, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Design Language, Connected Vehicles, etc. Images made each layout look attractive and important facts and figures were highlighted for easy readability. The report was appreciated by the client and the investor community.
